Did you know? Almost every footstep, every chair creak and every rustle of clothing—really all the non-musical, non-dialogue sounds you hear in a mainstream, notable box-office movie are painstakingly re-recorded, in sync with the video, by a ‘foley artist’ in a recording studio.
On the new season of Sounds Familiar (starting 9/7) we’re going into the studio with the foley team behind The Life Aquatic, The 40 Year-Old Virgin and Cloverfield, to find out what it takes to be the discreet (and not-so-discreet) sounds of a Hollywood blockbuster.

It’s happened again. Your favorite TV show (or graphic novels or movie franchise or podcast) is headed down the tubes. The shark has been jumped, and now there’s no looking back.
What does it mean for a series to be in decline? What does it look like? And why does it happen? I intend to find out, with the help of Arthur Fonzarelli, Steve Urkel and Fast Eddie, creator and administrator at tvtropes.org.

That feeling when you know your favorite TV show is going down the drain… this time on Sounds Familiar.
…sorry everyone, I may be spamming a bit this week because the first episode of my podcast will be available this week. I’ll try to keep it to a bearable minimum, but please know that, in addition to merely shameless self-promotion, I’m really excited about and proud of this project.
Also, take note: while you can subscribe in iTunes with the link above, it will be at least a few more days before the podcast is listed in the iTunes directory.
Thanks for your patience.
